Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - Technical Specialist in Cooperating Coagulation at Evanston Hospital. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, with occasional weekends and rotating holidays.

You will perform clinical microbiology tests, maintain instruments, and resolve cross-departmental issues to ensure accurate results and quality care. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree and CLIA testing requirements; MT/MLS certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree and the required courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Three (3) years of MT/MLS experience (internal candidate) including one year at Senior Lab Associate level at NorthShore.
• Six (6) years of MT/MLS experience including two years in a supervisory/technical resource position (external candidate).

Responsibilities

• Performs various clinical microbiology tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintains and calibrates multiplex instrumentation systems for accurate results.
• Resolves technical and interdepartmental problems related to laboratory areas.
• Identifies problems that may affect performance or reporting and takes corrective action.
• Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ensures laboratory operations including regulatory, QC, equipment maintenance, inventory, and staff competencies.
• Rotates through at least three areas of the Clinical Lab as authorized.
