Job summary

Basaran Grinder Corp. in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a senior machinist to develop machining strategies for complex components, program and operate multi-axis mills/lathes, and mentor junior staff.

Wire or sinker EDM experience is a plus and familiarity with high-value, low-volume work is expected. You will review drawings, optimize cycle times, and ensure tight tolerances while delivering critical parts with minimal rework.

• Support wire or sinker EDM programming and electrode planning when qualified.
• Train machinists and establish reliable setup sheets and methods.

Job description

Owns difficult machining work involving complex geometry,multiple setups, tight tolerances, and expensive parts. The senior machinistimproves processes, mentors others, and may program and operate wire or sinkerEDM equipment in addition to CNC mills and lathes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop complete machining strategies for complex machine-toolcomponents and critical one-off parts
• Program, set up, prove out, and run advanced mill, lathe, mill-turn, ormulti-axis work
• Optimize cycle time, tool life, workholding, inspection, and repeatability without sacrificing quality
• Review drawings and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback beforerelease
• Support wire or sinker EDM programming, setup, electrode planning, andmachining when qualified
• Train developing machinists and establish reliable setup sheets andreusable shop methods

Required Qualifications

• Advanced Mastercam and independent CNC programming, setup, operation,and inspection capability
• Strong GD&T, tolerance-stack, metrology, tooling, workholding, andtroubleshooting knowledge
• Demonstrated success with close-tolerance, high-value, low-volume work
• Ability to recover difficult jobs and make sound decisions withoutrisking the machine or part
• Ability to mentor others and communicate process requirements clearly

Preferred Experience ( 15+ years)

• Wire EDM or sinker EDM programming and operating experience
• Five-axis, milling, turning, large-part, precision-boring, orfixture-design experience
• Ability to program offline and personally set up and run multiplemachine types

• Full-time position based primarily on-site in Hauppauge, New York
• Typical company schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.; specific hours depend on the role
