Job summary

Basaran Grinder Corporation seeks a Level 4 Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of complete custom CNC grinding machines and solve the most difficult design and machine-performance problems. The senior engineer establishes sound technical direction, develops other engineers, and improves design practices across the department.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing precision machinery or comparably complex industrial equipment.
• Expert command of mechanical design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, machine elements, materials and manufacturing methods.
• Demonstrated ability to lead designs from requirements through build, test and acceptance.
• Strong practical judgment and ability to identify technical risk before release.
• Ability to mentor engineers and conduct rigorous design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Establish the mechanical architecture for complete machines and complex customer programs.
• Translate process, accuracy, cycle-time, automation, safety, and service requirements into design specifications.
• Review critical structures, axes, spindles, wheel systems, fixtures, dressers, guarding, and fluid systems.
• Lead root-cause analysis for precision, vibration, thermal growth, chatter, leakage, reliability, and assembly issues.
• Mentor Levels 1 through 3 and improve standards, calculation methods, checklists, and reusable designs.
• Coordinate technical decisions with engineering management, manufacturing, applications, controls, suppliers, and customers.

Position Summary

• Lead root-cause analysis for precision, vibration, thermal growth,chatter, leakage, reliability, and assembly issues

Preferred Experience (15+ years)

• CNC grinding-machine or metal-cutting machine-tool experience
• Direct experience with high-speed spindles, precision bearings,structural dynamics, hydrostatic systems, or coolant delivery
• Customer-facing experience on engineered-to-order capital equipment

Produces technically sound machine designs, preventsrecurring failures, raises department capability, and keeps major programsmoving.

• Full-time position based primarily on-site in Hauppauge, New York
• Typical company schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.; specific hours depend on the role
