Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Woodbridge, VA is seeking an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) to lead assigned departments, drive club performance, and ensure a premium member experience with safe, efficient store operations.

The AMIT develops talent, enforces GOLD standards, and collaborates with the Club Manager on staffing, training, audits, and daily execution. Forklift certification and ServSafe may be required depending on location.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations management.
• Strong drive for results and solid work ethic.
• Honest, straight-forward and committed to providing high levels of service to members.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a large team.
• Solid understanding of shrink controls, staff development, merchandising, customer service, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
• Completion of company training program preferred.
• High school diploma and/or college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic department leadership across Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members with staffing decisions.
• Oversee labor planning and scheduling to match business needs.
• Drive sales, maintain inventory, and manage shrink.
• Champion member experience standards (GOLD) and service quality.
• Execute operational readiness and close-to-open standards daily.
• Lead department talent management and development programs.
• Utilize club tools and reporting to guide decisions and performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies; lead audits and resolves issues.
• Support initiatives, transitions, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Maintain equipment and facilities; provide cross-functional support as needed.
