Job summary

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) to lead departments, develop talent, and ensure high GOLD standards across the club. The AMIT role includes onboarding, certification, and potential progression to Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience tracks, with a focus on delivering a premier member experience and operational excellence.

A valid ServSafe certification is required and forklift experience may be needed; annual readiness and development are

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager.
• Forklift operator certification may be required.
• ServSafe food safety certification is required or to be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic department leadership for assigned departments (Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience).
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members for departments and ensure onboarding and certification.
• Oversee labor planning and scheduling aligned with trends and budgets.
• Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management through proper execution.
• Champion Member Experience standards (GAA, GOLD) across departments.
• Ensure operational readiness and compliance for daily operations.
• Lead department talent management and succession planning.
• Utilize club tools and reporting to guide decisions and performance.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and OSHA compliance; lead audits.
• Support merchandising transitions and special projects as needed.
