Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Florida seeks an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) to lead multiple departments, develop talent, and drive club performance. The trainee will gain experience aligned to Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience tracks and oversee policies, GOLD standards, and overall club direction.

The role includes shifts as Manager on Duty, with focus on leadership, team development, and ensuring a safe, high-performing club environment in this fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations management.
• Strong drive for results and solid work ethic.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Solid understanding of shrink controls, merchandising, customer service, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
• Proven leadership capabilities, including managing cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of store operations, membership, front-line, gas station, maintenance, receiving, and omni procedures.
• Completion of company training program preferred.
• High school diploma and/or college degree preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Forklift operator required.
• Open shift availability required.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide Strategic Department Leadership: oversee daily operations across departments with accountability for results.
• Recruit, Hire, and Onboard Team Members: manage hiring, onboarding, and certification processes.
• Oversee Labor Planning and Scheduling: create schedules aligned with trends and budgets.
• Drive Sales, Inventory Control, and Shrink Management: ensure in-stock conditions and minimize loss.
• Champion Member Experience Standards: model GAA, GOLD, and service standards across departments.
• Execute Operational Readiness: maintain club readiness each day.
• Lead Department Talent Management: conduct reviews, mentor leaders, and plan succession.
• Utilize Tools and Reporting for Decision-Making: use club tools and dashboards for insights.
• Ensure Compliance and Safety: enforce policies, audits, and safety standards.
• Support Special Initiatives and Transitions: manage transitions and seasonal sets.
• Maintain Equipment and Facilities: monitor equipment and facilities for uptime.
• Perform Cross-Functional Support as Needed: assist across departments.
• Utilize BJ’s MY WORK System: execute daily tasks via internal system.
• Operate Equipment Safely (as required): forklift safety and operation training.
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance: essential for leadership coverage.
