Job summary

Excel Fitness in Norfolk, VA seeks an experienced Club Operations leader to drive member experience, supervise up to 20 Team Players, and manage budget and operations. You will mentor staff for future GM roles, coordinate with regional leadership, and ensure adherence to core values and service standards.

You will oversee trainings, certifications, audits, and daily operations, while coordinating with RM/Sr.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• At least six (6) months of equivalent management experience required.
• CPR/AED certification required; training provided within 30 days.
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, develop, and supervise others.
• Familiar with Excel’s mission, values, vision, and KPI metrics.
• Demonstrated leadership to manage a team.
• Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word; DataTrak; Workday; Service Channel.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate the next generation of leaders by identifying strengths and training opportunities for each Team Player.
• Lead the AM in planning strategies to attract and keep members based on Excel Core Values.
• Ensure team proficiency in Planet Fitness app, tablet and POS operations.
• Keep staff updated on certifications, trainings, marketing plans, and updates.
• Utilize club reporting and KPI platforms to align with company metrics.
• Manage club budget, ensuring expenses stay within budget and profitability.
• Oversee, supervise, and inspire Team Players to perform at their best.
• Identify training needs and ensure staff meet Excel standards.
• Conduct regular audits to maintain club standards and appearance.
• Lead by example and enforce company policies and guidelines.
• Perform Team Player Assessments and competency evaluations.
• Communicate with members to deliver high-level service.
• Create job postings, interview candidates, complete hire processes, and train new hires.
• Coach and document performance management as needed.
• Work with RM, Sr. GM, AM, and HR on counseling and terminations.
• Conduct daily club walkthroughs; delegate and follow up on cleanliness and service.
• Lead club meetings on policies and procedures and foster culture.
• Enter work orders and coordinate with Facilities and vendors.
• Collaborate on maintenance items with RM/Sr GM and Facilities.
• Coordinate with SI/GC/RM/Construction for remodels and new builds.
• Assist in overseeing equipment extractions and installations.
• Find and initiate community events to promote the company.
• Manage inventory and coordinate orders.
• Prepare AM for potential future GM roles through mentoring and delegation.
• Authorize expenditures and refunds; handle bank deposits.
• Maintain availability to respond to operational questions or emergencies.
• Ensure club operations run smoothly with covered shifts.
