Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain and repair server hardware and networks across AWS data centers. The role involves in-depth diagnostics, on-call rotations, and collaborating with engineers, vendors, and other stake holders to ensure high availability of AWS services.

The position requires travel between data center locations as needed and a willingness to work shift hours including nights and weekends to support 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience.
• 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking experience.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix Administration.
• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field.
• Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
• Experience training and onboarding of new team members.
• Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carrying out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services
• Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
• Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues
• Helping to interview, train and onboard new team members
