Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician in Mississippi to maintain and operate AWS data center infrastructure. The role involves hardware installation, network troubleshooting, and on‑call duties to ensure continuous service availability for a global cloud platform.

You will collaborate with engineers, vendors, and contractors, travel between data center sites as needed, and support documentation and process improvements in a fast‑paced, 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent diploma.
• Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
• 1+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
• Experience in data center.
• Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering).
• Understanding of network design, protocols and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required.
• Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
• Performing on‑call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues.
• Helping to train and onboard new team members.
• Take ownership of technical issues brought by their customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.
• Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context.
• Maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting.

Education

Associate’s degree/Technical certification/Equivalent professional or military experience
