Qualifications

• GS-4: Six (6) months of general experience; related to laboratory work.
• GS-4: Six (6) months of specialized experience in technical medical laboratory support.
• GS-4: Associate degree program including one year of certified laboratory assistant training.
• GS-4: One year of study with chemistry/biological sciences plus full-time medical/clinical lab training.
• GS-4: Two years of study with twelve semester hours in chemistry/biology related to the position.
• GS-5: One year of specialized experience performing CLIA-waived lab testing and documenting QC; or bachelor's degree with related major; or combination of education/experience.
• GS-6: One year of specialized experience conducting standardized clinical lab tests, evaluating results, and maintaining instruments; or graduate education related to the work.
• GS-7: One year of specialized experience conducting diverse clinical lab tests, evaluating results, and ensuring quality/compliance; or graduate education related to the work.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results, recognize abnormal findings, and troubleshoot procedures.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; prepare reagents and media; monitor QC.
• Collect and process patient specimens; accession and track specimens in LIS; prepare for referral testing.
• Validate and document results; communicate findings to healthcare providers; support quality assurance and compliance with CAP/CLIA.
