Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform clinical laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking, including preparing reagents and reporting results.

You'll work to ensure accurate, high-quality laboratory data in support of patient care, participate in quality assurance, and comply with CAP/CLIA and safety requirements in a mission-driven federal health service.

Qualifications

• Six months general experience or equivalent
• Six months specialized experience in clinical laboratory support
• Education in lab-related field or related training programs
• Ability to collect and process specimens, document results, and maintain biosafety procedures
• Experience with CLIA-compliant procedures and quality control is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments; prepare reagents and culture media
• Collect and process patient specimens; accession and track in lab systems
• Validate and document results; communicate with healthcare providers and support accreditation requirements
