Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 to join the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services team. You will perform specimen processing, venipuncture, and direct patient care, while upholding high standards of service and accuracy.

The role emphasizes training new staff, contributing to quality assurance, and ensuring timely lab results in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience
• OR Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology
• OR Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing: receiving, sorting, prioritizing specimens and requests, matching specimens against requisitions, centrifuging and aliquoting, processing timed urine collections, resulting and reviewing entries for reference lab testing, and performing computer functions.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients, clients, and hospital staff, including patient instructions for urine collection.
