Qualifications

• GS-4: Six months general experience; six months specialized experience in technical medical laboratory support.
• GS-5: One year specialized experience equivalent to GS-4; or bachelor's degree with related discipline.
• GS-6: One year specialized experience in standardized clinical lab tests and QA; or graduate education related to the work.
• GS-7: One year specialized experience conducting diverse clinical lab tests and coordinating QA, or graduate education.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate results, troubleshoot abnormal findings, and ensure accuracy of laboratory results.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain instruments, prepare reagents, stains, and culture media; monitor quality control.
• Collect and process patient specimens; manage accessioning and tracking in lab information systems.
• Validate and document results; communicate with healthcare providers; support CAP/CLIA safety and accreditation.
