Qualifications

• GS-04: Six months general experience; six months specialized lab support experience; or approved related education.
• GS-04: Various education/experience combinations allowing entry at this level.
• GS-05 to GS-07: Specialized clinical lab testing, specimen handling, and quality/documentation requirements.
• Education substitutions are allowed as detailed in the qualification text.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results, troubleshoot, and repeat procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; prepare reagents and culture media.
• Collect, process, and track patient specimens; ensure specimen integrity and accessioning.
• Validate and document results; communicate findings to healthcare providers; support quality assurance activities.
