Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s laboratory team seeks a dedicated staff member to perform phlebotomy and specimen handling, enter data into the LIS, and ensure accurate transport and registration of samples. You will verify results and assist with routine testing under supervision.

You'll collaborate with unit staff and providers to support patient care, adhere to the Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and contribute to quality control and process improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum 1 year of work experience in a general lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy area.
• Phlebotomy Certification or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with lab staff and providers to ensure patient care.
• Receive specimens into the LIS.
• Input and retrieve lab results in the LIS.
• Register specimen dropoffs in LIS with accurate data.
• Operate and maintain lab automation systems.
• Perform waived and/or moderate complexity testing under CLS supervision.
• Communicate specimen rejections and critical results to clinical staff.
