Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant II for the Delnor Cancer Center Laboratory. This full-time, day-shift position involves entering specimens, performing waived and moderate testing under supervision, and maintaining quality control in a busy lab.

You will collaborate with lab staff, coordinate specimen transport, and support phlebotomy and processing activities to ensure accurate results and timely patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a general lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy area.
• Phlebotomy Certification or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the main lab staff and care team to ensure patient care.
• Receive specimens into the laboratory information system.
• Input and retrieve lab results in the hospital system.
• Process specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Distribute specimens to testing areas and ensure proper handling.
• Perform diagnostic/analytic testing under supervision and report results.
• Maintain QC/QA records and operate automation systems as needed.
• Coordinate courier pickups and respond to calls to the lab.
