Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification required or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
• Preferred: experience with phlebotomy across diverse patient types and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards and in accordance with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Demonstrates patient communication using the AIDET model and prioritizes patient safety to reduce errors.
• Receives and reviews physician orders; ensures necessary information is included for accurate lab services; enters orders in accordance with policies.
• Processes specimens to ensure stability and integrity, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and packaging for transport.
• Maintains refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; reports findings to supervisor or manager.
