Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or CMA certification.
• Experience performing phlebotomy in a healthcare setting.
• Familiar with medical EMR systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections according to age-related standards and policies.
• Enter physician orders and verify test result receipt; document appropriately.
• Communicate with patients and provide post-phlebotomy care as needed.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and packaging for transport.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; report findings.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment and complete timely order status updates.
• Adhere to safety, biohazard procedures and ethical guidelines.
