Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen handling with compassionate patient service in a fast-paced lab. You will accurately enter orders in our EMR, verify test results, and support daily lab operations. Strict adherence to safety, privacy, and quality standards is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification or CMA/education in phlebotomy required.
• Experience in phlebotomy in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collections per age-related standards.
• Demonstrates AIDET model and emphasizes patient safety.
• Receives and reviews physician orders; enters orders in lab systems in accordance with policy.
• Communicates with patients and provides post-phlebotomy care.
• Processes specimens promptly to maintain sample integrity.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures proper labeling and handling of specimens.
• Operates and maintains equipment related to phlebotomy tasks and lab operations.
• Adheres to safety, biohazard, and institutional policies.
