Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Sioux Center, IA seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform clinical laboratory tests and support quality control. The role involves managing instruments, executing procedures, and communicating results to care teams.

Shifts rotate (days/evenings/nights/weekends) with a pay range of $24.00–$44.00 per hour. PTO day 1, retirement matching, and hands-on mentorship are offered to support ongoing career development.

Qualifications

• Visual acuity and effective communication are required.
• Associate or Technical certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• Certification as MLS/MLT (AMT/ASCP) within 1 year is expected.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation and workflows.
• Perform basic to complex clinical laboratory testing following established procedures.
• Maintain quality control, instrument calibration, and reagent preparation.
• Communicate lab data clearly to healthcare teams and document results.
• Assess results with independent judgment and escalate as needed.
• Support CQI activities and ensure safety standards.
