Job summary
Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to support a multidisciplinary lab team. The role involves operating instrumentation, quality control, and test procedures across rotating shifts, with emphasis on accuracy and timely communication of results.
The candidate will perform basic to complex laboratory tests, manage workflow, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Associate's Transcript showing Medical Laboratory Technology degree
- Technical Certificate Transcript showing Medical Laboratory Technology degree
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - AMT within 1 Year
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - ASCP within 1 Year
- 1-3 years of related experience or training
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation or disciplines including supply inventory, quality control, calibration, reagent preparation, etc.
- Initiates and follows through with corrective action with MLS/supervisor assistance; prioritizes and manages workflow.
- Performs basic to complex clinical laboratory testing following established procedures and guidelines.
- Communicates laboratory data to departments, healthcare providers, and individuals accurately and timely.
- Assesses validity of results and takes corrective action with MLS/supervisor as needed.
- Participates in lab CQI or other lab activities as assigned.
- Provides instructions on specimen collection, handling, and storage guidelines.
