Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join a multidisciplinary team. You will perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests, ensure quality control, maintain instruments, and communicate results to care teams.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• MLT/AMT/ASCP certification within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and related systems.
• Initiate corrective actions and manage workflow with MLS/supervisor assistance.
• Perform basic to complex clinical laboratory testing per procedures and guidelines.
• Communicate results to departments, providers, and care teams clearly and timely.
• Analyze results with critical thinking and compare to prior values; seek guidance as needed.
• Assess validity of results and take appropriate corrective actions with MLS input.
• Participate in CQI and other quality improvement activities.
• Provide guidance on specimen collection, handling, and storage for various samples.
