Job summary

Oak Street Health is seeking a Medical Scribe to support primary care providers with real-time documentation during patient encounters and to assist with coding and after-visit summaries.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of medical terminology, prior clinical experience, and strong typing skills (70+ wpm). Bilingual abilities are valued for serving diverse communities; the role requires in-person clinic work and commitment to at least one year.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications.
• Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering.
• Advanced listening and communication skills.
• Languages spoken by communities served (Spanish/Polish/Russian) where indicated.
• Ability to type 70+ words per minute.
• Ability to adapt to new workflows and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Documenting patient encounters in real time, including HPI, assessment, plan and exam.
• Assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes and preparing after-visit summaries.
• Clinical documentation improvement through reviewing medical records and using population health tools.
• Administrative support to providers and care team, including placing orders and referrals.
