Job summary

Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore seeks a Client Service Specialist to support a multidisciplinary ambulatory team. You will handle registration, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, and medical records across clinical, behavioral health, and social service programs.

The role requires strong communication, independence, and a patient-centered approach to ensure seamless access to care and resources for vulnerable populations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Two+ years of customer service experience.
• Two+ years in health/human services; degree may substitute for experience.
• Understanding of ambulatory practice management and clinic operations.
• HIPAA and ADA regulatory knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, manage referrals, and handle medical records daily.
• Process referrals and coordinate with discharge teams, including authorizations and documentation.
• Maintain and prioritize medical records workflow to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with Practice Manager to track customer service actions and improve satisfaction.
• Respond promptly to client questions/complaints and connect them with needed services.
