Job description

Class II AHU Fabricator – 2nd Shift

Location: Albany, MO. Shift: 2nd Shift | Full-Time. Pay: $21.50 per hour + $1.00 shift premium.

At Johnson Controls Inc. (Albany Plant), we build custom high‑quality commercial air‑handling units (AHU) from sheet metal.

Responsibilities

• Ensure hardware and components match Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Install components securely and ensure proper fit and alignment according to the Spec Sheet
• Prepare product to be painted and shipped
• Install hardware and custom parts into assembly per specification for HVAC Units
• Identify proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheets and blueprints
• Utilize rivet gun, air gun, knife, welding and other hand tools to perform duties
• Operate bridge crane or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
• Perform preventative maintenance and make minor machine repairs as needed
• Adhere to a production schedule, ensuring all parts are properly fitted, aligned, and secured while meeting safety standards
• Operate a fork truck (preferred)
• Participate in all high‑performance team activities (HPT)

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and build plans
• Previous experience in an industrial setting (preferred)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)

Language Ability

• Read and comprehend English, including instructions, memos, and manuals
• Write simple correspondence
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations

Math Ability

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability

• Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions
• Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills

• Basic computer skills required

Certificates & Licenses

• Operating a fork truck (preferred)

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration
• Noise level usually loud

Physical Requirements

• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently stand and walk; occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
