Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. Albany Plant is seeking a Class II AHU Fabricator on the 2nd shift. You will read BOMs and blueprints, install components per spec sheets, and prepare units for shipping. The role requires using rivet guns, welders, and hand tools while maintaining safety and quality.

Responsibilities include aligning parts, identifying correct components from specs, and moving assemblies with a bridge crane. Prior fabrication experience is a plus, with health and safety as top priorities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and BOMs.
  • Experience in an industrial fabrication setting preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow spec sheets.
  • Safety-conscious with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Verify parts against BOM and specs.
  • Install components per the spec sheet and ensure proper fit.
  • Prepare product for painting and shipping.
  • Install hardware per HVAC unit specifications.
  • Identify proper parts from specs and blueprints.
  • Use rivet gun, air gun, knife, welding and other hand tools.
  • Operate bridge crane to move shipments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Adhere to production schedules and safety standards.

Class II AHU Fabricator – 2nd Shift

Location: Albany, MO
Shift: 2nd Shift | Full-Time


Pay: $21.50 + $1.00 Shift Premium for 2nd Shift


At Johnson Controls Inc. (Albany Plant), we build custom high quality, commercial air handling units (AHU) from sheet metal. We are hiring for Class II AHU Fabricators on our 2nd shift team!


What You Will Do



  • Ensure hardware and components match Bill of Materials (BOM)


  • Install components securely and ensure proper fit and alignment according to the Spec Sheet.


  • Prepare product to be painted and shipped


  • Install hardware and custom parts into assembly per specification for HVAC Units




  • Identify proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheets and blueprints


  • Utilize rivet gun, air gun, knife, welding and other hand tools to perform duties




  • Operate bridge crane or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area


  • Perform preventative maintenance and make minor machine repairs as needed


  • Responsible for adhering to a production schedule, ensuring that all parts are properly fitted, aligned, and secured and ensuring that safety standards are always met



Job Requirements



  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and build plans preferred


  • Previous experience in an industrial setting a plus!

Education/Experience



  • High school diploma or GED preferred



Language Ability



  • Ability to read and comprehend the English language – this includes simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shop-floor paperwork, and procedure manuals)


  • Ability to write simple correspondence


  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals


  • Ability to compute rate and percent and interpret bar graphs

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form


  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations



Computer Skills



  • Basic computers skills required



Certificates & Licenses



  • Operating a fork truck is a preferred function
