Position Summary

The Class III Electrical Mechanic is responsible for installing and maintaining electrical components within air handling units. The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and competency in both Class II and Class III tasks. Mechanics must maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity in a fast‑paced environment, contributing to the production of high‑performance products that support Johnson Controls’ mission of creating smarter, healthier environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform all Class I, II, and III jobs.
• Interpret specification sheets and blueprints to accurately identify and select the correct parts required for assembly.
• Assemble parts to specification.
• Install windows, hardware, and other purchased parts into assemblies per specifications.
• Complete appropriate paperwork.
• Utilize rivet gun, air gun, knife, welding, and other hand tools to perform duties.
• Solder copper pipe.
• Install gauges and wiring units.
• Assist others in performing their duties.
• Bridge crane or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend English instructions, memos, and safety rules.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and coworkers.
• Math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computing rates and percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
• Reasoning skills: apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve concrete problems.
• Basic computer skills.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The work environment may involve fumes or airborne particles, moderate noise levels, and frequent use of hands, arms, and legs. Employees regularly stand, walk, climb ladders, and may lift or move up to 10 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception are required.
