Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation is seeking Civil Engineering Interns within the Traffic Engineering & Planning unit. You will assist with transportation planning, traffic engineering analyses, and environmental review tasks under CEQR/SEQR/NEPA processes.

Responsibilities include data collection, field observations, and preparing technical materials such as reports and graphics. Proficiency with HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, AutoCAD, and related tools is highly valued.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. Other engineering degrees not acceptable.
• Valid NYS Driver's License preferred.
• Proficiency in HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, Word/PowerPoint/Excel strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transportation planning and traffic engineering analyses across projects.
• Collect, organize, and review transportation data; conduct field observations.
• Prepare reports, maps, graphics, and other project materials; participate in meetings and site visits.
