Job summary
New York City Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support traffic operations and planning within the Transportation Planning and Management division. You will help conduct traffic/transportation studies, review curb cuts, site access, and assist with street direction conversion projects.
Candidates should understand land use-transportation relationships, use Synchro and HCS for analyses, and prepare reports for presentations.
Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering and one year of full-time civil engineering experience; or a Master's degree in civil engineering.
- Knowledge of traffic engineering principles and CEQR Manual preferred.
- New York State driver's license preferred.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to traffic/transportation studies and projects including curb cut reviews and site access reviews.
- Perform traffic analysis using Synchro and HCS per HCM and CEQR methodologies.
- Develop safety and operations measures and prepare written reports and graphics.
- Attend community board meetings and liaise with agency staff and external parties.
- Prepare meeting materials and minutes; may conduct field work.
