Job summary

The Department of Transportation in New York City seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to join the Traffic Engineering & Planning (TEP) unit. You will contribute to traffic/transportation studies, curb cut reviews, site development and access reviews, and assist with street direction conversion projects.

You should understand land use and transportation relationships, be familiar with traffic engineering principles, and use tools such as Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic/transportation studies and related analyses for operations and safety.
• Review curb cuts, site development and site access proposals.
• Assist with street direction conversion projects and public presentations.
