Job summary

Schnabel, Inc. in Seattle is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support geotechnical projects during May through August 2027. The role focuses on applying professional principles to real problems under supervision, with learning opportunities across field and lab settings.

You will assist with geotechnical field work, construction observation, testing, and preparing basic AutoCAD and GIS figures, with some travel required and strong mentorship from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.
• Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including observing subsurface exploration, using GPS to layout borings, and performing infiltration testing.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing at construction sites.
• Perform laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Provide support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
