Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical teams. The intern will gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles under supervision from senior staff during the May–August 2027 period.

The role emphasizes broadening practical knowledge through field observations, lab testing, and documentation, with opportunities to contribute to proposals and reports.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s program.
• Strong written and verbal communication and basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow directions.
• Willingness to perform office and field tasks and work outdoors.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as part of field work.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work, observe subsurface exploration, and layout borings.
• Observe construction and perform materials testing at sites.
• Conduct laboratory testing as part of projects.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Support engineers in preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Occasional travel may be required.
