Job summary

Schnabel, Inc. invites a Civil Engineering student to join as a temporary full-time intern from May through August 2027 in Portland, Oregon.

The position supports geotechnical investigations, design tasks, and field activities under the supervision of senior engineers. Applicants must be enrolled in ABET-accredited civil engineering, have good communication, be willing to work outdoors, and able to lift up to 50 pounds; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in performing geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing construction plans
• Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses
• Performing construction observation and materials testing
• Some travel may be required
