Job summary

Schnabel seeks a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support geotechnical investigations, wall/excavation design, hydrology studies, and reinforced concrete work. The role emphasizes applying principles under senior supervision during a May–August 2027 term.

Ideal candidates are ABET‑accredited civil engineering students, with strong communication, teamwork, and a willingness to perform both office and field tasks, including outdoor work and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design
• Preparing construction plans
• Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses
• Performing construction observation and materials testing
• Some travel may be required
