Job summary

Schnabel, an employee-owned engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support geotechnical and structural projects. The position offers hands-on experience under senior engineers, with a focus on applying professional principles to real problems.

This temporary full-time internship runs May through August 2027. Responsibilities include geotechnical investigations, construction plans, and field observations, with some travel.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor's program.
• Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting geotechnical investigations and analyses.
• Supporting retaining wall/excavation design and hydrology studies; reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing construction plans
• Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses
• Performing construction observation and materials testing
• Some travel may be required
