Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering intern to support our growing geotechnical and geostructural projects. The role emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems under supervision, from May through August 2027.

You will assist with geotechnical investigations, prepare construction plans, support earthquake analyses, and perform field observations. Strong communication, teamwork, and a willingness to work outdoors are required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program, pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
• Willingness to perform both office and field tasks.
• Interest in outdoor field work and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology studies, and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare construction plans and drawings.
• Support advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Potential travel to project sites may be required.
