Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical and civil projects. The internship runs from May through August 2027, offering hands-on experience under the supervision of senior engineers and exposure to real-world problems in the earth and environment disciplines.

Responsibilities include assisting in geotechnical investigations, preparing construction plans, supporting earthquake analyses, and performing field observations and materials testing.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work in a team and outdoors.
• Experience with office and field tasks; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies, and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare construction plans.
• Support advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Some travel may be required.
