Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to gain practical experience from May through August 2027. You will work under senior engineers to apply professional principles to real problems across geotechnical investigations, design tasks, and field observation.

The role emphasizes broadening practical knowledge, collaboration, and learning in a supportive environment, with travel as needed and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient with computers.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team and perform office and field tasks.
• Willingness to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare construction plans.
• Support advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Some travel may be required.
