Job summary

Schnabel, Inc. in Longmont, CO is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern for May–August 2027. This role focuses on broadening practical knowledge under senior engineers, spanning geotechnical investigations, design work, and construction observation.

It offers exposure to real projects and hands-on learning in a collaborative, safety-conscious environment. Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in ABET-accredited civil programs, comfortable with fieldwork, and prepared to lift

Qualifications

Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assisting in geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
Preparing construction plans
Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses
Performing construction observation and materials testing
Some travel may be required
