Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. seeks a Civil Engineering Group Manager to lead the civil engineering team and oversee land and site development projects across the Midwest. You’ll play a hands-on role in design while guiding project teams to deliver high-quality results.

Based in Cleveland, OH with relocation support for non-locals, the role offers a base salary of $140,000–$180,000 plus a sign-on bonus and year-one stay-on bonus after 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• PE license in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania or Indiana required.
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience, including leadership.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
• Experience with stormwater reports and designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the office’s civil engineering team, supporting land development, site development, and commercial site design projects.
• Manage day-to-day team operations, project execution, workload distribution, and staff performance.
• Mentor and develop civil engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and growth opportunities.
• Oversee planning, design, and delivery of private development projects including site layout and utilities.
• Review construction documents, cost estimates, and bid packages for accuracy.
• Oversee feasibility studies, zoning analyses, and stormwater design work.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Build relationships with clients, municipalities, and regulators to support approvals and growth.
• Collaborate with project managers to coordinate resources and schedules.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals.
