Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors seeks a civil engineer to support the design of civil-site projects. You will perform engineering tasks under supervision in our Decatur, AL office, contributing to both small and large assignments and collaborating with discipline leads. Ideal candidates hold a B.S.

or M.S. in Civil Engineering, with EIT preferred, and 1–3 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA and related standards is valued; AutoCAD/Civil3D experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) registration strongly preferred and may be required.
• 1–3 years of relevant civil-site engineering experience in an industrial setting; prior experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure contexts is a plus.
• Knowledge and application of standards (ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA, NRCS, NFPA, etc.).
• Working knowledge of civil stormwater analysis software and ability to interpret results.
• Ability to work with a team to complete small and large projects; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce low complex, complete design calculations and assignments.
• Provide design assistance on larger and more complex assignments.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies.
• Assist with drafting of plans and details for engineering drawings.
• Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.
• Develop written construction specifications that define the scope of work and quality standards.
• Perform land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects.
• Work with discipline lead engineer to identify scope changes.
• Review and check submittal drawings and documentation.
