Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Civil Engineer to support complete design of commercial and industrial civil-site projects. You will perform low to moderate complexity design calculations, develop conceptual layouts, and assist with drafting plans and specifications under supervision in Decatur, AL. Ideal candidates have a B.S.

or M.S. in Civil Engineering, EIT preferred, and 1–3 years of civil-site engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus and re-prioritizing as necessary to meet multiple commitments
• Knowledge and application of associated standards (ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA, NRCS, NFPA, etc.)
• Working knowledge of civil stormwater analysis software including operating and interpreting results
• Ability to actively listen and ascertain the needs of Teammates and Clients
• Ability to work with a team to complete small and large projects
• Able to assist with the development of presentations of Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Civil3D software is a plus
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support

Responsibilities

• Produce low complex, complete design calculations and assignments
• Provide design assistance on larger and more complex assignments
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies
• Assist with drafting of plans and details for the completion of engineering drawings
• Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support
• Develop written construction specifications that define the scope of work, provide specific instruction, and prescribe quality standards
• Perform land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects
• Work with discipline lead engineer in identifying scope changes in projects
• Review and check submittal drawings and documentation
