Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors seeks a civil engineer to support the full design of civil projects from our Decatur, AL office. This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits, competitive pay, and potential relocation support for qualified candidates.

You will perform design calculations, assist with larger projects, develop layouts and cost studies, draft plans, conduct fieldwork, and draft construction specifications while researching land development and zoning codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• EIT registration strongly preferred and may be required.
• 1–3 years of civil-site engineering experience in an industrial setting or related sectors.
• Experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Produce low complex, complete design calculations and assignments.
• Provide design assistance on larger and more complex assignments.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies.
• Assist with drafting of plans and details for engineering drawings.
• Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.
• Develop written construction specifications defining the scope, instructions, and quality standards.
• Conduct land development and zoning code research for civil-site projects.
• Identify scope changes with the discipline lead engineer.
• Review submittal drawings and documentation.
