Job summary

The City of Maypearl is seeking a Planner to coordinate and manage planning, zoning, subdivisions, and general development activities. The role involves long-range planning, data collection, reporting, and presenting to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.

Responsibilities include GIS support, preparing findings, and coordinating with commissions, developers, and the public. A Bachelor's degree and municipal planning experience are required, with certs preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
• 1–3 years of experience in municipal planning and zoning.
• AICP or ICC certification preferred within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review development documents and zoning changes for completeness and compliance with regulations.
• Assist City commissions, City Council, developers, citizens and staff with understanding ordinances and regulations.
• Assist with GIS by creating maps and graphics for planning projects and presentations.
• Assist in administration and updating of the comprehensive plan, zoning and subdivision ordinances.
• Prepare findings for boards and commissions as required.
• Prepare written reports and make presentations.
• Respond promptly to information requests from management, officials and the public.
• Coordinate with plan review consultants on commercial building plans for permitting.
