Job summary

City of Maypearl is seeking a Director of Urban Planning to lead comprehensive planning initiatives, studies, and programs that support the city’s general plan. You will supervise staff, coordinate budgets, prepare reports for the Planning Commission and City Council, and develop innovative planning efforts across transportation, land use, and design.

The role emphasizes strong writing and public speaking, experience with public outreach, grant administration, and ADA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible urban planning experience, including two (2) years supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general administration of planning programs for the division.
• Prepare and present division reports including the budget.
• Manage development and administration of the department budget and expenditures.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, and City Council.
• Supervise staff and ensure COSA policies and guidelines are followed.
• Monitor citywide ADA compliance and administer contracts from granting agencies.
