Job summary

Current, a rapidly growing accounting platform, seeks a COO in Syracuse, NY to lead firmwide operations, drive AI-enabled transformation, and scale processes across offices. You will translate strategy into execution, standardize workflows, and elevate client service while strengthening culture and risk controls.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, strong change management skills, and a track record of delivering measurable improvements in professional services operations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of operational leadership in professional services or similar.
• Proven track record leading technology-enabled transformation (workflow modernization, automation, data/analytics, AI).
• Strong process engineering mindset; Lean/Six Sigma experience welcomed but not required.
• Able to operate at executive strategy level and in detailed process mapping and metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change in partner-led or matrixed environments.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict navigation skills.
• High judgment around risk, quality, and compliance in regulated services.

Responsibilities

• Own firmwide operations across offices and functions with a high-accountability culture.
• Establish cadence: weekly metrics, monthly reviews, quarterly planning, clear initiative ownership.
• Define KPIs (capacity, cycle time, SLA adherence, NPS/CSAT, talent retention).
• Identify growth constraints and remove bottlenecks via systems and org design.
• Map end-to-end workflows (onboarding to renewal) for speed and quality.
• Lead tech-enabled transformation including AI, automation, and data platforms.
• Partner with leadership to define a practical AI/tech roadmap and governance.
