Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the team in preparing sterile instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures. The role includes assisting the surgeon, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety.

Schedule is 40 hours per week, Days shift. Certification and licensure requirements apply, with a focus on teamwork and attention to detail in a high-stakes operating room.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or currently in accreditation process.
• LPN grandfathered (3) at Rockford campus.

Responsibilities

• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns, gloves, and sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications.
• Assists with patient placement and positioning.
• Maintains sterile field and passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator prior to incision.
• Assists in prepping room for next patient and cleaning the operating room after procedures.
