Job summary

Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will prepare sterile instruments, maintain sterile fields, and assist with patient safety and intraoperative tasks.

The role requires CST/NBSTA/TS-C or NCCT certification, an Associate degree in Surgical Technology, and the ability to work in a high‑stress environment, with on‑call rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), NBSTA or TS-C, NCCT certification required
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred on hire, must obtain before direct patient care
• Associates Degree in Surgical Technology required
• One year perioperative or related experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Functions as scrub person, assists during operative procedures
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments
• Maintains sterile field and assists with drapes/instruments
• Performs surgical counts with circulating RN
• Retrieves and labels specimens appropriately
• Reports implanted devices, catheters, drains to circulator
• Participates in patient safety measures and education
• Assists with pre/post procedure cleaning and room turnover
