Job summary

Ascension in Winchester, IN seeks a Medical Surgical assistant to support RN-ordered procedures and patient care. You will assist with personal care, daily living activities, transfers and maintaining patient rooms, while monitoring safety and reporting any changes to nursing staff.

This role requires nursing aide credentials and timely BLS. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1 year of relevant experience; licensure can be substituted by education or experience

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing before hire date.
• Education or experience can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assists with procedures ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Accommodates patients with tending to personal care, ADLs and transfers/transport.
• Reports changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Monitors environment for safety hazards and emergencies and acts accordingly.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assists with procedures ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Accommodates patients/participants with tending to personal care, activities of daily living and transfers/transport.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patients/participants rooms clean and orderly.
• Monitors patients/participants environment for safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as appropriate, as needed.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
