Job summary

UNC Health Womens Services at Southeastern Health Park in Lumberton, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified. This outpatient clinic role provides routine clinical and administrative support under provider supervision and clinic management guidance.

The position emphasizes rooming, data collection, med administration, basic tests, and patient education. Certification and BLS are required; MA programs and externships are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required.
• Prior MA or MA externship experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake with vital signs and patient data collection.
• Collect patient medical and social history data.
• Review current medications and allergies; confirm preferred pharmacy.
• Assist providers during treatments and examinations as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Conduct tests like EKG and eye exams as directed.
• Review records to determine routine screenings needed.
• Ensure exam/treatment rooms are stocked and ready with supplies.
